Gregory Hudson Remembers Alan Chadwick, Part 3

Alan Chadwick could be a strict task master, but he could also be generous in his praise when the apprentices measured up to the demands of the task at hand. His standards were high, so good work generally did not warrant much comment―after all, that's just to be expected. Excellent work, on the other hand, made Alan very happy, and his acknowledgements were gratefully received and rarely forgotten by his students. In this video clip, Gregory Hudson recalls the time when he poured himself heart and soul into the building of a gate, and how Alan responded to his efforts. (5:04)
